A STUDY ON DENTAL ANXIETY SCALE OF 1,041 DENTAL PATIENTS.

Abstract
In most cases glycosusia is the possible clue to the diagnosis of Diabetes, especially there must be much consideration to the patients of 3-positive and 4-positive urinary glucose reaction in dental care.
For the study of the incidence of glycosuria and 3-positive and 4-positive urinary glucose reaction in dental patients, 1,624 dental patients in the Dept. of Oral Diagnosis of the S.N.U. hospital were evaluated for urinary glucose level.
Additionally, for the study of the relationships between severe alveolar bone loss and blood chemistrical findings, 81 patients with severe alveolar bone loss and 15 dental students with no periodontal involvement were evaluated for serum calcium, phosphorus and alkaline, phosphates. And 11 patients with severe alveolar bone loss who showed positive urinary ¢¥glucose reaction and 15 dental students with no periodontal involvement as a control group were evaluated for blood glucose level. The results were as follows.
1. In urinary glucose test , 11.8 % of male patients and 7.4% of female patients demonstrated positive urinary glucose reaction and 3.2% of male patients and 3.1 % of female patients demonstrated 3-positive and 4-positive reaction.
2. There was no significant alteration in the contents of serum calcium, serum phosphorus and alkaline phosphates in two groups but considerable increase of blood glucose level could be observed in 11 patients who showed positive urinary glucose reaction .
